He had an extensive track record of participation with GS1, before joining GS1 UK as chair in 2018. He is committed to ensuring the team demonstrates the consumer and patient benefits of solving industry challenges through collaboration.

Jan Somers

Jan Somers started his career as Director of the VP in the Brussels Parliament, became advisor to Minister W. DEMEESTER in the Flemish Government and became later on active in the European Footwear Industry Confederation, in BABM (Belgian Association for Brand Manufacturers) and ECR Belgium as lobbyist (negotiating trade agreements) and project manager R&D. In July 2007, he joined GS1 Belgilux as Deputy CEO and ECR Manager and became CEO in 2010. Jan has a license in Political and Social sciences (KU Leuven Belgium) and a master in European Politics (University Robert Schuman Strasbourg France).
Jan launched GDSN (Global Data Synchronisation Network) in Belgium 2010 to make it possible, for any company, in any market, to share high quality product information seamlessly, expanding its reach from FMCG and Foodservice to DIY, garden & pet and the Healthcare sectors. In 2020, he launched My Product Manager, GS1’s Belgilux central hub to manage product data. Since 2023, companies can also share packaging information can also be shared via My Product Manager and the GDSN network to show the durability of their packaging and comply with legal requirements.

Marcin Baranski

Marcin specialises in management, strategy development and organisational transformations. For 25 years he has held managerial positions in companies from industries such as building materials, interior design and retail. In recent years, as General Manager of VOX, a company specialised in furniture, doors, floors, and façade panels, he led the strategic transformation of the VOX Capital Group, where a fundamental part of this process was the development of a new omnichannel strategy and the digitalisation of the customer experience.
Together with VOX owner Piotr Wit Voelkel, they recently started a new venture – PLAYDESIGN. The platform, which was initially created for VOX will help other companies to democratize the process of creation, optimize costs and adapt to new market requirements.
Marcin will explain how VOX is developing more efficient product presentations and enhancing communication with customers by utilizing new technologies and QR codes (GS1 standards). He will demonstrate how technologies such as PLAYDESIGN can help companies build new, more sustainable, and environmentally friendly business models (including ESG principles). Additionally, he will discuss how VOX is preparing for more sustainable (eco-)design and production of furniture, as this sector is now prioritized in the ESPR.

Matthias Kühn

Matthias Kühn has been with ALDI SÜD since 2008, holding various roles in Operations and Buying across Germany, the U.S., and the international organization. He currently leads the Sustainability Team at ALDI’s Global Sourcing office in Salzburg. In his current role, Matthias is focused on operationalizing the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) within the ALDI Buying organization.
Matthias Kühn will focus on deforestation and ALDI’s approach to implementing the international EUDR questionnaire, sharing insights into how the retailer is preparing its global supply chain to meet regulatory requirements.

Marinus Bouwman

As a software product manager at KNAPP, Marinus is your partner for intelligent warehouse automation. His experience in automation technology, software development, as well as data management lead to an understanding of the importance of master data for warehouse efficiency. His passion and expertise lies in automation master data.
Marinus was born in the Netherlands, raised in Belgium and studied and worked all over Europe. He worked 15 years in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics, making him accustomed to High Performance Computing, Cloud Computing and Big Data.
2013 he started to cooperate with several startups in the field of food production – his first touch-points to the creation of item master data for GS1. In 2014 he made his first experiences with GS1 Austria as a brand owner and has been in close contact with the organization since.
Marinus joined KNAPP in 2018 and is responsible for software that calculates the packing pattern for mixed pallets as well as software that automatically gathers, maintains and extends automation master data.

In 2012, Nele graduated as an Industrial Engineer in the food industry. Following her studies in Ghent, she began her career as Quality Manager at Colruyt Group, overseeing operations at the group’s own production site for fresh meat and meat preparations, Fine Food Meat. Over the course of nine years, Nele held several key roles within the organisation, covering the full spectrum from procurement to production.
After nearly a decade in the production environment, she took on a new challenge as Team Manager within the Service Centre Quality at Colruyt Group. For the past four years, she has led the team responsible for organising sensory and user testing.
In the last two and a half years, she has also become actively involved in the dynamic field of product information. Early in 2024, Nele helped launch the PI-Fast project, marking the start of an intensive collaboration with GS1 to support suppliers on their journey towards GDSN/My Product Manager integration.
Nele is deeply engaged in this evolving landscape, where the importance of accurate and accessible product information continues to grow.
Nelle will present Colruyt Group’s vision for the future of data sharing, with a focus on GDSN and the integration of ESG data points moving forward.

Nicolas Clerget has been a key player at HEINEKEN, actively involved in the transition to renewable energy and the climate agenda. Since 2020, Nicolas has taken on the role of designing and implementing the Net Zero strategy, guiding the Dutch brewer toward a more low-carbon economy.
Thanks to his dedicated efforts, Net Zero Carbon has become one of the top five priorities in HEINEKEN’s company strategy, Evergreen. HEINEKEN has committed to reach Net Zero by 2040 and has its near-term, long-term and FLAG targets approved by the Science Based target initiative in 2023.

Pere Rosell began his career at GS1 Spain in 1999, working in the E-commerce department and progressively taking on leadership roles. Since 2015, he has served as CEO, guiding the organisation’s strategic direction and promoting the adoption of GS1 standards to enhance business efficiency and connectivity across Spain. He also actively represents GS1 Spain in key GS1 and GS1 in Europe governing bodies.
Pere holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from UPC (Barcelona), with additional qualifications from SUPELEC (Paris), EAE Business School (Barcelona), and San Telmo Business School (Seville).
